Darwin Public Speaking Club (January)
Learn and practice your public speaking in this low-pressure, friendly group where you learn a new skill each month and get to practice it.
Public Speaking doesn't come naturally to everyone, but like any skill, it can be learned with guidance and practice.
Speakstarter's Darwin Public Speaking Club is a casual and fun way to start speaking from your very first session - if you want to!
Here's how it works:
- Check-in: We share whether we are nervous, excited or outright terrified (you'll be surprised how many of us are!) so we can get the initial nerves out of the way.
- Learning: You'll learn one key skill in public speaking that you will then use in the next part when you speak.
- Topic: You are given a topic. It's an easy topic that anyone can apply themselves to - and you'll spend 20 minutes preparing your 2-minute speech as a script, dot-point or any format you like!
- Speak: It's time to speak. You can sit down, stand up, jump up and down or face the other way - whatever works for you! Read from a script, or use cue cards. You've got two minutes to deliver your story or research.
- Feedback: We'll ask you if you want feedback (there's no pressure to say yes) and if you want it, you'll receive constructive feedback on how to improve - and hear about what you did really well.
Sessions are held every month during the year at Darwin Innovation Hub after work hours.
We look forward to seeing you there!
