Event description

Description

Explore the darker side of portrait lighting in our Apocalypse-styled shoot!

Level: Beginner - Intermediate
Date: Thursday 18 April
Duration: 6.30pm - 9.00pm
Cost: $135
Instructor: Seng Mah
Maximum participants: 8

Our first "Dark Portraiture: Apocalypse" shoot sold out within a few hours, so we thought we'd run another one for those who missed out! "Dark Portraiture: Apocalypse II" is a themed ark portraiture event, where our photographic models will be styled up to look like survivors and fighters from an apocalyptic setting.

Enjoy a unique and enjoyable photo shoot while you learn all about shooting low key portraiture, how to control light fall to create dark, dramatic and moody portraits. You'll shoot with two models at this event and there will be props for you to use (feel free to bring your own "apocalyptic" props too).

This is a hands-on shooting event, where you'll learn about achieving low-key dramatic lighting by actually doing it! Learn how to angle light, use rim lighting, manage light fall-off, feather light, obtain a black background and to pose your portrait subject for heightened drama and emotion in this style of lighting.

If you're a fan of darker, more dramatic portraits and want to learn how to set up and use low-key lighting, you mustn't miss this mini-workshop. Places are limited to 8 participants to give you maximum opportunity to shoot and learn.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED
  • An interchangeable lens camera (DSLR or mirrorless).
  • Lenses that cover focal length ranges of 35mm all the way to 200mm. Prime lenses in the 85mm and 50mm range will also be suitable. Fast lenses are recommended, such as those that can open up to f/2 or f/4.

* You don't need a tripod or flash for this workshop.

This workshop is suitable for digital cameras with manual controls (P, A/Av, S/Tv and M modes) including DSLRs and interchangeable lens mirrorless cameras.
