Wanna learn how to wine like a pro? COMMUNE's new weekly dance class is an explosive lesson in dancehall! Join famed French dancer Ama Ryllis as she takes you on a journey through Afro-Caribbean dance grooves centred on body movement and party vibes. 
From Nigerian Afrobeats to Jamaican dancehall and Lord Shorty's soca, you'll be given the space to express yourself and feel the moves right from your head to your toes (although mostly, let's be honest, in your hips!)
Don't worry if you've never been to a dance class before - it's all about having fun and getting a lil sweaty. Open to everyone from beginners to intermiediate! 
What to bring:
- Comfortable shoes like sneakers - Clothes you can get low in - A smile!

$10+bf or $15 on the door 
About the teachers:
Ama Ryllis is a French dancer who has been living in Sydney since 2014. She loves dancing many different styles (dancehall, afro beats, soca, kizomba, samba, hiphop, sega ...) but started to teach Afro/Dancehall workshops and classes 4 years ago and hasn't looked back! Ama has performed at several festivals, events and concerts in Sydney including Newtown Festival, Africulture, Reggae Carnival Market, Sounds of Afrobeats, Dutty Dancin, Beanie Man and Sister Nancy concerts. 
Jessica fell in love with Dancehall music about 10 years ago. She has had a chance to perform with different Dancehall groups in Sydney including performing for international artists Konshens and Gappy Ranks opening acts in Sydney,  and came second in the NSW Dancehall Competition in 2017. Her love for Caribbean music and dance has taken her to celebrate carnival in Trinidad and Tobago and performed at the first International Soca DJ Competition in Port of Spain. She is also a lover of Afrobeats among many music genres and  can’t wait to jam out with you!
 This series of workshops is part of COMMUNE's Our Hood program, celebrating culture, community and freedom of expression. In a city where neighbours are often strangers, discover connections with like-minded people amongst the beautiful spaces of COMMUNE Waterloo. COMMUNE Our Hood is supported by the City of Sydney.
