Curious about Cuttles?

Saturday 8 July 2017 from 7.30 – 9.30pm (Arrive 7.15pm for 7.30pm start).

A night to share our wonder and curiosity for the incredible Giant Australian Cuttlefish, Sepia apama of Whyalla, with local experts, researchers and artists – audience questions welcome.

To be held at the Mt Laura Homestead Ekblom Street, Whyalla.


Program for evening:

7.30pm - Bangarrla Welcome to Country - Bangarrla elder

7.40pm - Cuttlefish on the big screen (photography + video) - Carl Charter – EMS Executive Officer

8pm - “Cuttlefish Country” - Documentary Preview - Danimations

8.05pm - The oceanography of Upper Spencer Gulf: Why this area is so special. - Assoc. Professor Jochen Kaempf

8.45pm - What are we doing to look after cuttlefish and their habitat? Community and government working together. - Dr Shelley Paul Marine Parks Regional Coordinator, Southern and Eastern Eyre Peninsula.

9.10pm - Eyes in the back of their head: Keeping the cuttlefish safe. - PIRSA (TBC)
