This walk will introduce the key features used to identify species, including bark types, leaves, buds, fruit and overall tree form. Participants will gain practical skills in recognising diagnostic characteristics and a deeper appreciation of the extraordinary diversity of Australia’s iconic gum trees.

This special guided walk is part of GumFest and will be held at the Australian Plant Communities section of the Botanic Gardens. So come and enjoy the activities at Brisbane Botanic Gardens, Mt Coot-tha on Sunday 22 March from 10 am to 3 pm. You can walk to the festival site (20–30 minute walk) or jump on the shuttle bus from the Visitor Information Centre.

Requirements: Please wear a hat and covered shoes; and bring a keep cup or water bottle. Cost: Free.

Suitable for ages: 15+

Meet at the information tent at GumFest 10 minutes prior to the commencement of the walk.
