Curating Activism Workshop

Curating Activism Workshop

By School of Humanities & Social Sciences, Deakin Uni

Overview

Join us to discuss how activist histories are collected, documented, and displayed in Australian institutions.

How do activist histories enter our museums, libraries, and archives? Who decides what is kept, catalogued, and displayed and whose voices are missing? This two-day workshop will bring together curators, archivists, collection managers, and heritage practitioners from across the GLAM sector to explore how activist histories are collected, documented, and displayed in Australian institutions. Through practitioner-focused discussion, participants will reflect on past and present practices while collaboratively imagining future collection strategies that prioritise activist agency, address historical gaps, and broaden the visibility of diverse social movements.
