Under the new Aged Care Act, Aged Care Providers are encouraged to adapt policy, practices and environment to ensure that an individual’s identity, culture, spirituality and diversity are valued and supported.
Research suggests that a solid grasp of intercultural communication, understanding both similarities and differences, along with practical strategies for overcoming barriers, is essential for all.
This training aims to broaden staff competencies regarding cultural awareness and best practices in supporting diverse older people and a diverse workforce. Attendees will gain understanding of the following:-
- various communication styles;
- adaptation to various cultural contexts to improve human interactions and service delivery;
- importance of cultural sensitivity in fostering meaningful client relationships;
- reshaping service delivery to meet the needs of diverse clients.
