ABOUT SHAUN O'GORMAN

Shaun O’Gorman is a critical stress consultant, keynote speaker, author and podcaster. After joining the QPS in 1989, Shaun worked in the Police Dog Squad for many years as well as the Covert Surveillance unit. In 2002, Shaun left the QPS and was diagnosed with PTSD. The years of exposure to violence and tragedy resulted in clinical depression and a battle with suicide. To overcome his mental health injuries, Shaun immersed himself in the study of stress management, personal development and human behaviour. He now devotes his life to helping others using the education that helped him help himself.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

During the workshop you will learn:

  • The early indicators that someone is suffering from incident stress or PTSD

  • How to identify the real causes of stress

  • How to overcome the feelings of weakness associated with getting assistance

  • Positive strategies to deal with the physical and mental effects on our health

  • How to reduce and cope with the stress in our lives

  • What is the difference between “good stress” and “bad stress”

  • What we should do if we suspect another person may be having problems

Shaun O’Gorman shares his incredible story to remove the stigma surrounding stress and PTSD to help other officers prepare themselves for what they will experience in their careers and help inoculate them against the effects of their jobs.
