Creativity and the Brain Symposium
Event Information
Description
You're invited to attend, present, perform and / or exhibit at a three day event focusing on healing and social participation through accessible arts, hosted by the University of Newcastle's School of Creative Industries.
Creativity and the Brain is for those with personal and / or professional interest in disability, recovery, ageing and wellbeing. Experience and research are showing that dance, music, drama, circus, art, writing and film are bringing healing and social change to many people’s lives. Come along to share and be inspired! Together we will explore new developments from peer-support to neuro-science and the media.
Through presentations, exhibits, performances and discussions, the symposium provides individuals, groups and organisations an opportunity to showcase arts / health initiatives. By bringing people together in round-table discussions, we aim to build empathy and provide a forum for new knowledge and collaboration.
People with lived experience of improving their life through the Arts are especially encouraged to submit a proposal to present, exhibit, or perform. Presentations can be pre-recorded.
Carers, family members, peer-workers, artists, arts collectives, students, teachers, clinicians, researchers, allied health professionals, and service providers are also invited to submit a presentation proposal and warmly encouraged to attend.
