Join talented local author and illustrator Gabriel Evans for an immersive creative masterclass designed specifically for adults.

As part of the Bunbury Public Libraries’ Literacy Festival, enjoy an introductory, hands-on course exploring children’s book art and story making. Gabriel will be sharing his personal processes in creating picture books and working with publishers.

Location: Bunbury Public Library - Parkfield Street, Bunbury

Sharing his personal processes in creating picture books and working with publishers, this session gives insight into working in the Australian illustration industry and includes discussions on developing a portfolio and using social media to showcase your art.

This course is aimed at adults and includes character design, constructing an illustration, and step-by-step instruction in developing a picture book story. All skill levels are welcome.

Whether you are an aspiring illustrator, a writer wanting to understand the visual side of publishing, or a curious creative looking to rediscover the joy of drawing, this session offers a supportive space to experiment and grow.

Spaces are limited, and bookings are essential.

Gabriel Evans is an Australian children's book author and illustrator with ten years experience presenting talks and workshops in schools and libraries around WA and NSW.

The City of Bunbury Public Libraries presents the inaugural Literacy Festival, a vibrant, community-focused celebration of reading, writing and storytelling. Across 12 days and 21 events, the festival will bring stories to life through interactive storytelling, inspiring author talks, creative writing workshops, drawing sessions, family-friendly activities and literacy-focused programs for all ages.

The festival promotes essential lifelong literacy skills while showcasing local authors and illustrators. Free or low-cost and open to all, the festival reinforces that literacy is for everyone.
