Creating on the iPad
Wed. 29 March 2017, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm AEST
Mobile devices like iPads and iPods allow learning to take place in a range of contexts and environments.
There is a huge range of apps available to support students with their literacy needs.
This workshop will focus on those apps that are available to allow the student to develop their literacy creatively. We will examine ways students can produce epubs (electronic books designed to be read on a mobile device) using their text, drawing and pictures.
We will also look at how students can create their interactive picture books and have these published. These books can include students’ illustration created either on the computer or using traditional means. We will also look at a range of apps which provide students with the opportunity to build multimodal texts.
This workshop will support you to create and share an epub using:
- Book Creator
- Drawing Pad
- Sketchbook Pro
After creating a simple epub, we will look at how to create other multimodal text on the iPad using:
We will also explore movie making including stop frame animation and look at practical ways to manage this process in the classroom. How to get students started understanding the filmmaking process and simple storyboarding will also be covered.:-
We will also examine the concept of coding and explore the plethora of resources available to use on the iPad for all ages groups and experiences including:-
- Daisy the Dinosaur
We will also study the wealth of resources readily available through iTune and iTunesU to support creating the best possible learning environment.
The focus of the workshop will be on successful classroom implementation and management strategies.
Please bring an iPad with the apps mention above to make the best use of the day.
