CPD17 Yoga Therapy Foundations
Overview
A Continuing Professional Development Specialty Intensive
(Course Planning and Sequencing for the Individual)
This four-day foundational course is compulsory for all students enrolled in BIYOME’s Yoga Therapy Training and is also open to yoga teachers and health professionals seeking to deepen their one-to-one therapeutic skills. Delivered via Livestream or Face-to-Face, it offers a comprehensive introduction to course planning and sequencing for the individual under the traditional Viniyoga therapy model.
Under the expert guidance of Leanne Davis — with 40 years’ experience in Eastern health sciences, internships in Chinese hospitals, yoga therapy centres in India, and leadership roles with Yoga Australia and IAYT — you will learn how to:
- Take a full client history and conduct detailed assessments
- Apply observation (Darshana), palpation (Sparshana), questioning (Prashna), touch (Sparshana), and basic pulse assessment (Nadi Vignan)
- Use the principles of Heyam, Hetu, Hanam, and Upayam to identify the root cause of a problem, set clear practice goals, and design effective therapeutic programs
- Integrate traditional wisdom with modern clinical approaches for safe and personalised care
You will gain the confidence to deliver yoga therapy sessions that are structured, collaborative, and guided by an ongoing review process. This training not only grounds you in the origins of yoga therapy but also equips you to apply it effectively in a contemporary, client-focused setting.
