Cosmic Creations: Mosaic Workshop at Perth Observatory

Join us at the iconic Perth Observatory for a hands-on mosaic workshop inspired by the beauty of the cosmos.
Using ceramic tiles in a variety of colours and glass mosaic pieces in different shapes, you’ll create your own celestial-inspired artwork — think stars, galaxies, planets, the sun, moon and constellations.

This workshop is suitable for adults and children aged 12+.
Mum & Me ticket available for one adult with one child aged 8–12 years.
The class is perfect for individuals, families, and anyone looking for a creative experience.
No prior experience is needed. Farida and her team will guide you step by step, sharing over 20 years of mosaic-making expertise in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

Workshop schedule (12:00 – 4:00 pm)

12:00 – 12:10 | Welcome & introduction
A short introduction, safety briefing, and demonstration on how to use tools, adhesive, ceramic tiles, and glass mosaic pieces.

12:10 – 3:00 | Mosaic creation
Design and create your own mosaic artwork with full guidance. All materials are provided.

3:00 – 3:35 | Guided Observatory tour
While your mosaic is drying, you can relax in the grounds of the observatory, visit the museum, or take a complimentary guided tour.
During the tour, Farida’s assistants will grout your mosaics so that when you return, your artwork will be finished and ready to take home.

3:35 – 4:00 | Collection & wrap-up
Return to collect your completed mosaic and enjoy tea and coffee.
