Sovereign Hill is an outdoor museum presenting the story of Australia’s fabulous goldrush. Its particular focus is the impact of the great 19th century gold discoveries on the growth of Ballarat, which was a small pastoral settlement when gold was discovered in 1851. By 1861, Ballarat had grown into a fine provincial city built on the wealth derived from its gold.Sovereign Hill is administered by The Sovereign Hill Museums Association - a not-for-profit, community-based organisation. The Association is also responsible for the administration of the Gold Museum and the Narmbool historic pastoral property.

Held at Sovereign Hill&#x27;s Outdoor Museum in partnership with the Wadawurrung Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation and with the support of City of Ballarat, the Corroboree under the full moon connects community to the oldest continuous Culture in the world. For 60,000 years people who call this place home share a unique heritage. In Ballarat we live on Wadawurrung country, and under the full moon Traditional Owners, performers, dancers and story tellers will share history and living culture, with other First Nations people from the broader local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.Corroborees were performed on the Goldfields in the 1860s. They were a feature of entertainment for miners on the Ballarat Goldfields. Be part of the performance with an invitation to dip your hand in wet ochre and add your handprint to the stage backdrop before settling in for an evening of dance, song, language and storytelling shared by a multi-generational ensemble of Traditional Owners.Some seating will be available, bring a rug and try delicious snacks with a bush twist from the Sovereign HiIl Café. Hot and cold drinks will also be available.
