Corals' Last Stand - A Short Film to Raise Awareness of Scott Reef

3 Rocca WayWanneroo, WA
Saturday, Dec 13 from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm AWST
Overview

Corals' Last Stand follows the voyage of a team of prominent Australians as they share the danger to WA's Scott Reef gas development poses.

We are thrilled to invite you to a special screening of the short documentary Corals' Last Stand.

Corals' Last Stand follows the voyage of a team of prominent Australians including author Tim Winton and musician John Butler as they travel to the reef to bring worldwide attention to the impact that plans for gas drilling will have on this special place.

This half-hour documentary asks whether Australia can really afford to exploit this so far untapped gas reserve in a time of growing community concern over rising global temperatures. And if it does, will Scott Reef and the life it supports be the collateral damage of that decision?

Why is this screening important to you and your family:

  • Our world is changing dramatically, with extreme weather events increasing alarmingly.
  • There is scientific consensus that burning fossil fuels such as natural gas, is causing our planet to warm and making extreme weather events more intense and more frequent.
  • Areas of unique natural beaty, such as the Scott Reef, are being impacted by fossil fuels projects and could be lost to future generations.

Event details:

  • Wanneroo Cultural Centre and library Theatre, 3 Rocca Way in Wanneroo City Centre
  • Saturday 13 December 2025
  • 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM
  • Register here at Eventbrite (or just show up, but seating is limited to about 45 people)

Corals' Last Stand is a social impact documentary film aimed at raising awareness of the value and plight of Australia's largest coral atoll and coral reefs everywhere.

We hope that you will join us for this special screening of Corals' Last Stand.

Thank you for your time and consideration, and we hope to see you there.
