Overview

Do you know your rights as an artist? This 1-hour workshop will explain the basics of copyright and moral rights for visual artists.

During this session you will understand how artists derive inspiration from the work of others, the nature of homage and the concept of originality. There will be practical examples and time for questions.

Delwyn Everard is a strategic thinker, lawyer and advocate with over three decades of intellectual property experience. As Deputy Director of the Arts Law Centre, she managed the delivery of its legal advice service to the creative sector. In 2017, she founded Everard Advisory, a boutique legal firm focusing on the arts. Delwyn is currently on the boards of several non-profit arts organisations including The Lester Prize and Perth Festival. She’s worked extensively with Indigenous art centres in remote Australia, assisting with governance and business advice. Her podcast ‘Running the Show’ discusses the legal and business issues confronting arts organisations and others working in the creative sector.
