Copy of Walk in Her Shoes: exhibition and forum - Whittlesea
Real stories. Real solutions. This moving exhibition shows what homelessness looks like in Victoria today... and how we can end it.
-
Many people associate homelessness with male rough sleepers. But nearly 60% of people coming to Victorian homelessness services last year were women.
Walk in Her Shoes, a powerful exhibition currently touring Victoria, gives you the chance to follow the journeys of three of these women, to understand more about what it's like to navigate homelessness and housing insecurity.
Join us as the exhibition and local forum stops in Whittlsea at Mill Park Library on Wednesday 25 March (6:30-8:30pm).
What's in store on the night?
- Immersive exhibition ā walk through a moving display of stories and portraits that showcase the resilience of women navigating housing insecurity.
- Panel discussion ā join a conversation with lived experience advocates, service providers, local MPs, and fellow community members about the challenges being faced locally, and the evidence-backed solutions that can end homelessness for good.
- Get involved ā learn about simple ways you can support change at a local level.
You'll hear from panellists and community voices:
- The Hon Lily D'Ambrosio MP, Member for Mill Park
- Ginette Beguely, Community Help Team Leader, Whittlesea Community Connections
- Sharon Villanueva, Assertive Outreach Coordinator, MOSS
- Riva Alice, Acting Head of Client Care, Haven Home Safe
- Lived experience advocate
This event is presented by Council to Homeless Persons, Victoria's independent peak body working to end homelessness.
It is proudly sponsored by the Municipal Association of Victoria, Community Information and Support Victoria, with support from City of Wittlesea.

You can also catch the exhibition on display at the library from 18 to 25 March.
