Description

The Sir Walter Murdoch School of Public Policy and International Affairs is hosting the 2018 inaugural Health
Administration, Policy and Leadership Lecture, featuring Dr Stephen Duckett, Health Program Director of the Grattan Institute.

In this lecture, Professor Duckett will discuss the sustainability of the Australian health care system and outline some of the economic challenges facing the system. He will also review contemporary system issues including the future of the primary care system, hospital funding and quality of care in hospitals.


About Dr Stephen Duckett
Dr Stephen Duckett is Director of the Health Program at Grattan Institute. He has held top operational and policy leadership positions in health care in Australia and Canada, including as Secretary of what is now the Commonwealth Department of Health. He has a reputation for creativity, evidence-based innovation and reform in areas ranging from the introduction of activity-based funding for hospitals to new systems of accountability for the safety of hospital care. An economist, he is a Fellow of the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia.



About the Sir Walter Murdoch School’s Health Administration, Policy and Leadership programs
The Sir Walter Murdoch School offers a 2-year Master of Health Administration, Policy and Leadership and a
6-month Graduate Certificate in Health Administration, Policy and Leadership.
These pan-University programs provide the key multidisciplinary skills needed to address the complex challenges facing today’s health sector. Students have the choice to specialise in the areas of Administration and Leadership; Informatics and Analytics; Policy and Evaluation, or to take a nonspecialised. Many classes are offered in the evenings, on weekends or in intensive blocks to suit busy professionals, with most units available both face-to-face and online.

Our Master is accredited by the Australasian College of Health Service Management (ACHSM) and
recommended as an approved course by the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators
(RACMA).
