Session 1

Title: Efficiently Auto Scaling for AWS from the Bottom Up
Duration: 30 min
Description:
AWS autoscaling works at a level that is not well suited to responding to Kubernetes managed container level events. Containers are ephemeral and can scale independent of the AWS cluster. This topic will cover expanding your options by controlling autoscaling of your AWS cluster (with some cheap tricks) from the bottom up with Kubernetes.
Speaker: Jason Howard, Lead Platform Engineer, Deloitte Australia

Session 2

Title: Scaling Instances and Services with Amazon ECS
Duration: 30 min
Description:
Amazon EC2 Container Service (ECS) is a highly scalable, high performance container management service that supports Docker containers and allows you to easily run applications on a managed cluster of Amazon EC2 instances. In this session, we will explain how ECS helps you achieve high availability by scaling up when demand is high, and optimize costs by scaling down your service and the cluster, when demand is lower, all automatically and in real-time.
