Confident Beginnings: Breastfeeding Preparation
This class builds confidence, skills and knowledge to begin breastfeeding with realistic expectations.
Preparing to breastfeed starts before your baby arrives.
This live online class is designed to help you feel calm, confident and supported as you prepare for those first feeds — with honest, practical guidance for real life with a newborn.
Whether you’re expecting your first baby or welcoming another little one, we’ll talk through what breastfeeding looks like in the early days and how to feel prepared for your experience at Hawkesbury District Hospital.
In this session we cover:
• How milk production works (including colostrum and supply & demand)
• Positioning and attachment
• Recognising feeding cues
• What’s normal in the early days (cluster feeding, night feeds)
• What to expect in the first hours after birth at Hawkesbury
• Common challenges and when to seek support
• How partners and support people can actively help
There is time for questions and discussion in a relaxed, non-judgemental space.
