Community Workshop  - Explore the fascinating world of waterbugs!

Tingalpa Creekcare is a partnership between Seqwater and Bulimba Creek Catchment Committee. The program aims to work with interested landholders within the Upper Tingalpa Creek catchment to address key threats to water quality. The Upper Tingalpa Creek Catchment includes the suburbs of Burbank, Sheldon, Priestdale and parts of Mount Cotton, Daisy Hill, Springwood, Rochedale South, Rochedale, Mackenzie, Belmont, Chandler and Capalaba. Creeks and tributaries in this catchment flow into the Leslie Harrison Dam, known locally as Tingalpa Creek Reservoir The reservoir is a key source of our region’s drinking water.By participating in the program landholders can access networking opportunities, advice and on the ground assistance to tackle specific weeds such as cats claw creeper.  By participating in the program, landholders can benefit from increased community connections, weed management support, training and workshops and free native plants. It’s up to all of us to ensure our water is safe to enjoy, now and into the future.

Join Upper Tingalpa Creekcare with Passerine Park Bushcare for a exploration into the world of waterbugs! Discover the role these tiny Macroinvertebrates can play in helping us monitor the health of our waterways and aquatic ecosystems.This workshop is ideal for families with children aged 8 and above accompanied by an adult.The session will begin with a brief introduction to waterbugs, followed by a practical demonstration on the proper use of the net for collecting waterbugs from both the riffle and edge areas of the creek. Afterwards, we will gather at the table to sort and identify the collected waterbugs together.Who Can Join: This event is perfect for both children and adults, making it a fantastic family activity. No prior experience is needed – just bring your curiosity and enthusiasm for aquatic life!What to Bring:<ul><li>Gum boots/water shoes (limited waders will be provided).
