You are invited to help our community #RiseAsOne to prevent family violence.

About this Event

The Community, Respect and Equality (CRE) Summit will provide an opportunity for the Geraldton community to learn more about how to prevent family violence, to access the most up to date primary prevention education available in WA and to network across the sector.

Thanks to Mid West Ports Authority, Guest Speakers include:

  • Dr. Ann O'Neill - Founder of the charity angelhands, survivor-advocate and Our WATCh ambassador.
  • Damian Martin - Former Perth Wildcats skipper & Global Roaming Pilbara Foundation and 16 Days in WA - Stop Violence Against Women ambassador
  • Audrey Walker - Gumbaynggirr woman, Our WATCh Senior Practice Advisor Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Women
  • Paul Zappa & Elise Awudu - General Manager and Co-ordinator of The Men's Project - Jesuit Social Services

There will be three main events for the Summit as specified below:

CRE Welcome Reception

6-8 pm Wednesday 26th May 2021 at Bundiyarra Aboriginal Community Aboriginal Corporation, Eastward Rd, Utakarra WA 6530.

With guest speaker, Damian Martin - Former Perth Wildcats Skipper, Global Roaming Pilbara Foundation and 16 Days in WA - to stop violence against women ambassador.

Come and learn about the CRE project, and network with like minded people who want to prevent family violence in their community.

Drinks and nibbles provided.

This is a FREE event. 

CRE Summit

8.30am - 5pm Thursday 27th May 2021 at the Queen Elizabeth II Community Centre, 88 Durlacher St, Geraldton WA 6530.

This is a professional development Summit for those working or interested in taking action in the primary prevention of family violence. See speakers list above.Tickets are $110 per person (which include morning, afternoon tea and lunch).

Thanks to Bendigo Bank Geraldton, subsidised tickets are available ( $55) - subject to availability and a limited to 2x tickets per organisation, please contact info@communityrespectandequality for more information. Subsidised tickets will need to be purchased through Desert Blue Connect reception.

Unpacking the Man Box Workshop

9-10 am Friday 28th May 2021 at Desert Blue Connect studio, 28 Durlacher Street, Geraldton.

Men play an important role in the prevention of family violence. This workshop will explore and provide guidance on messaging to engage men in efforts to prevent the use of violence.

This workshop will be in addition to the Men's Project presentation at the Summit, and it is recommended that workshop attendees have also attended this. 

Thanks to Mid West Ports Authority, this is a free event, however seating is limited.
