LeadAbility Community of Practice

Dominique Mecoy, Leadership WA CEO, invites you to a Leadership WA Community of Practice event. This event is presented in collaboration with the State Government Supporting Communities Forum.

This Community of Practice comprises graduates of our previous LeadAbility courses and members of Diverse Leadership Inc, along with Leadership WA Alumni and sector representatives.

This session will run in three parts:

Speaker Session:
You will firstly hear from Fadzi Whande (Signature Participant 2017), Global Diversity and Inclusion Strategist; award-winning Social Justice Advocate; Facilitator; Keynote Speaker; and Manager, Inclusion, and Diversity for the University of Western Australia. Fadzi will talk about her leadership journey and there will be an opportunity for Q&A following her presentation.

Facilitated Discussion:
Following this presentation, you will hear from Suzi Cowcher (Signature Participant 2010), former CEO of The Ability Centre; and representative on the State Government Supporting Communities Forum. The Supporting Communities Forum’s function is to support the implementation of the State Government’s Supporting Communities Policy with a focus on working with the sector to maximise opportunities to deliver quality services, by building a relationship based on partnership, collaboration and mutual respect between both sectors.

Suzi will share information on the Forum and ask for your thoughts on how to seek feedback from people with lived experience of disability. This is an excellent opportunity to provide your direct input on what are the key issues for people with a disability where community and government collaboration would be most valued.

Networking:
Following this session, you will have the opportunity to network with each other, Leadership WA Alumni, DLI Board members, and the Supporting Communities Forum representatives to further build relationships.
