Social media have changed the way we communicate science across the globe. But are you using Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and the rest to optimum effect?
This short course will provide you with the skills and knowledge you need to create an effective web presence for your science.
In this intensive five-day program, you will develop the knowledge and skills to:
- Analyse the effectiveness of existing science communication on the web in terms of design, audience engagement and goal achievement.
- Determine appropriate modes of web communication of science by analysing the nature of the content, the expected audience(s) and the desired outcomes.
- Design and develop an effective science communication web presence using a variety of web tools.
- Evaluate the successes of web science communication activities against key goals, metrics and theories on communicating science on the internet.
- Provide useful feedback to others regarding web science communication activity.
Led by A/Prof Will Grant https://cpas.anu.edu.au/people/associate-professor-will-grant an Associate Professor in Science Communication at the Australian National Centre for the Public Awareness of Science at ANU.
Note: This short course cannot be taken for credit towards an ANU degree.
Cancellation:
The Australian National University reserves the right to cancel the course or change course title, content, dates and venues. We also reserve the right to decline registrations where registrations exceed capacity or cancel the course due to insufficient registrations. In the event of cancellation, as much notice as possible* will be provided to participants registered for the course.
Refunds:
Under the circumstances outlined below, participants may be eligible for a full refund of their fees:
• If ANU is unable to offer the course.
• If a participant cancels their place in the course in writing at least six weeks before the course start date.
No fees will be refunded if the participant withdraws from the course within six weeks of the course start date.
