They aim to provide a fun and enjoyable space for all fans to share their passion for not only anime, but all of its related subcultures – such as manga/manhua/manhwa, cosplay, art, Vocaloid, gatcha games, and much more!

Rules

  • Entrants must provide a written description that the MC will read during their appearance. This can include details about their costume or provide a story about the character being portrayed. You can offer details about the construction process, materials, number of work hours, or anything else that might impress the judges and fans. This description is limited to 100 words and must include the name of the character being portrayed, as well as their media origin (e.g., Gojo Satoru from Jujutsu Kaisen).
  • Contestants must arrive in costumes and are responsible for their own belongings. We do not have a dressing area.
  • No profanity is allowed on stage. This includes messages on signs or clothing.
  • Everything brought onto the walk-on must be removed at the end of the time limit – substances such as confetti, glitter, flower petals, and water are not permitted.
  • Entrants may not throw anything into the crowd.
  • All weapons will be subject to inspection before entry and at any point during the event.

ASHFIELD LIBRARY is accessible by lift from the ground level.

If you have any access or support requirements in order to participate fully, please let us know in the booking order form to ensure that we can arrange any reasonable adjustments. Please note: the venue is accessible for people using wheelchairs and other mobility aids.

We may take photos and video of the speakers and audience. See details here

Frequently asked questions

How do I register?

Select a “ticket” and complete the relevant questions to secure your spot in the competition. There are limited spaces, so bookings are essential.

What do I need to do on the day?

Please come to the front stage of the Town Hall (located in the Ashfield Civic Centre) no later than 1:50. Staff will check off your name and make sure your details are correct before you are allowed to participate.

I don't want to fill out the registration form. Can I register on the day?

On-the-day registration is not possible, so please fill out this form if you would like to participate!

What do I actually do on stage?

Entrants proceed one at a time as our MC calls you forward. You stand at the front of the stage, strike your best pose for the audience (and our photographer!), and exit on the opposite side of the stage. You then go back to the assembly area or look around Artist Alley until winners are announced.
