Overview

Museums of History NSW's Collections on Tour series heads to Leura with an expert-led presentation, Q&A session and a collection display

A Brighter Past: A Short History of Colour in NSW

What colours did people use in their homes in the past? We often think that historical home interiors were dull and dusty – was this the reality? Discover the story of colour in the home in NSW and how attitudes towards living with colour are always changing.

This expert-led illustrated presentation will draw on Museums of History NSW’s rich collections, including the Caroline Simpson Library Collection, State Archives Collection and museum collections.

An engaging Q&A session will follow each presentation.

There will also be an opportunity for you to view original collection material such as wallpaper, trade catalogues, tiles, architectural pattern books and other rare sources.

After, all guests are invited to explore the historic surrounds and learn more about our special places.

The National Trust (NSW) is delighted to be collaborating with Museums of History NSW for this special Collections on Tour series.
