Join us for an informal collage workshop with ART WORKS Artist in Residence Ruby Chew.

Experiment with collage materials, create your own unique artwork or linger a little longer to add to a larger collaborative work; it’s up to you! You do not need any experience to participate. Materials will be provided.Please make sure you bring a face mask to wear as the workshops will take place indoors.As ArtPOD has a restricted capacity we suggest making a booking to guarantee your preferred timeslot and assist Ruby with estimating the quantity of materials needed.Ruby Chew will be in residence at the ArtPOD from July to November 2021. She will be drawing on her experience as a teaching artist to create new work informed by engagement with the local community.ART WORKS is delivered by Guildhouse in partnership with the City of Adelaide.

Ruby Chew is a painter who employs process-based making techniques to create open dialogue with her viewers, whilst exploring the fluidity of pictorial space.Completing a BA Visual Arts Hons. at Adelaide Central School of Art (2010), along with further study at Central Saint Martins, London and the Florence Academy of Art, Florence, Ruby’s work is deeply rooted in traditional painting techniques; the foundation of her practice. In 2011, her works were accepted into the prestigious Helpmann Academy Graduate Exhibition, where she was awarded the SALA Prize, part funding her first solo exhibition, and the Hill Smith Gallery/Helpmann Academy Travel Prize, funding a 3 month artistic development trip around the UK and Europe. Ruby is a Ruth Tuck Scholarship recipient (2015) and has exhibited, taught and held residency positions interstate and overseas. She has had numerous solo exhibitions, notably Portraits at Magazine Gallery (2011), Spitting Image at Hill Smith Gallery (2012) and The Difference Between Things at Floating Goose Studios (2021). Her artworks are in public and private collections across Australia, Canada, Malaysia and London. Ruby is a recipient of the Guildhouse/City of Adelaide ART WORKS residency, commencing in July. She currently lives and works in Adelaide, South Australia.
