Will food and drinks be provided?

Absolutely! Lunch and dinner will be provided on days 1 and 2, lunch will be provided on days 3 and 4. There will be an Airwallex coffee cart providing free coffee on days 2 and 3. We have also partnered with Redbull to provide their energy drinks.

Question 2

What is the judging process like?

There will be 2 rounds of judging. The first round submissions will be video presentations submitted via Devpost. First round judges will then decide which groups will progress to round 2. Round 2 involves an in-person presentation in front of final round judges, who will decide the winners!

Question 3

What do you mean by overnight?

Participants that purchase overnight tickets will be allowed to stay at the hackathon venue past closing hours on days 1 and 2.

Question 4

This is super intimidating to me as a beginner, should I still participate?

Accepted Answer

Of course! Though Codebrew is a large-scale hackathon, where there will be many veteran participants, there will be a series of workshops and mentors catered towards helping you coast through your first hackathon experience!

Question 5

I'm not a University of Melbourne student, can I still participate?

Accepted Answer

Any current university students are allowed to participate, however only teams with AT LEAST ONE University of Melbourne student are eligible to win prizes.

Question 6

What if I don't have a team registered by the start of the hackathon?

Accepted Answer

That's absolutely fine! There will be a group-forming session right at the start of Codebrew to help participants find group mates, as well as for those in groups to network with others.

Question 7

Do I have to be there in person?

Accepted Answer

Your team must have at least one representative present on the first day at the opening ceremony to be officially registered.

Question 8

Can I work on an existing project?

Accepted Answer

No. All work must be started from scratch from the moment that hacking commences. (we will check your commit history!)
