About this event

The Centre for Marine Socioecology (CMS) are hosting their annual Showcase event: "Connections and collaborations to ensure a thriving future ocean". Please RSVP to get involved!

CMS is a dynamic interdisciplinary research centre that brings together diverse insights and expertise from across the natural and social sciences, and beyond. As we convene to develop current and future research agendas, we invite your participation and input to identify current marine issues/interests in Tasmania and Australia, and to strengthen old and new partnerships with CMS.

What: The day will be structured around a series of stakeholder panels (i.e. allowing stakeholders to shape discussion and agendas), short presentation sessions for our interdisciplinary researchers (i.e. brief overview of the current/future CMS work and research), as well as interactive workshopping focused on identifying risks, opportunities and critical marine issues in the years ahead. We will create opportunities for open dialogue and Q & A - and hope to generate fruitful and lively discussion as always!

Who we are: The Centre for Marine Socioecology (CMS, https://marinesocioecology.org/) was established to address interdisciplinary challenges regarding the current and future use of our marine coasts and oceans. CMS is a unique collaboration between the University of Tasmania and the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO). It brings together disciplinary expertise in physics, law, economics, biology, sociology, psychology, human health, art, media, philosophy and governance. CMS uses this expertise to focus on the complex issues that are developing in the management of the marine estate.

This will be a catered event. Please let us know if you have any dietary requirements we should be aware of.
