Lionel Bowen LibraryMaroubra, NSW
Feb 23, 2026 at 10 am to Mar 16, 2026 at 12 pm AEDT
Overview

Explore the art of sculptures in this 4-week introductory course.

Join our introductory clay sculpture class at the library. This beginner-friendly workshop provides a hands-on environment where you can transform raw material into unique works of art.

What to Expect:

Foundational Techniques: Learn essential hand-building methods, including pinching for simple bowls, coiling for tall structures, and slabbing to create geometric forms and organic shapes

After some initial instruction, participants will be asked to explore their personal style, including animals, figures, and more

Dates:

This is a four-part series, held on Monday 23 February, 2, 9 and 16 March.

*You must sign up to attend ALL classes.

Note:

Creating clay masterpieces can get a little muddy, so please dress in clothing suitable for making a mess.

We will be using largely air-drying clay (suitable for ornamental purposes), and while you will learn many transferrable skills, we will not be firing the final products.

Pick-up:

Projects typically remain at the library to dry before you return for a second session to add paint or finishings.

Roll up your sleeves, and see what your hands can create!
