Description
What are the current issues that affect buildings resulting from combustible cladding incidents?
Our panel of speakers comprising Senior Fire Safety Engineer Nages Karuppiah from the MFS, Private Certifier Ian Dodd from Katnich Dodd and Senior Building Officer Bernie Steer from Adelaide City Council will discuss their views on the challenges and risks faced from both firefighting and building compliance perspectives; with that of the risk assessment tool being utilised in SA for assessing the risks associated with current existing buildings incorporating combustible cladding.

Nages Karuppiah - MFS: Nages is a Senior Fire Safety Engineer within the SAMFS and for her current role, she is responsible for providing engineering governance for projects submitted for review pursuant to Regulation 28, ensuring that the designs meet the fire safety requirements both of the BCA and fire-fighting operational requirements.
Ian Dodd - Katnich Dodd: Ian has over 30 years’ experience in the construction industry and since forming Katnich Dodd, has acted as building surveying consultant for all types of projects ranging from dwellings to multi-storey commercial buildings and the majority of SA ‘s landmark buildings. Ian holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) Adelaide University and other Graduate Diploma’s
Bernie Steer - ACC Fire Safety Committee: Bernie is a fellow of the Australian Institute of Building Surveyors with a degree qualification in Building and Construction, a post-graduate qualification in Building Surveying and a certificate IV in Training and Assessment. He works at the City of Adelaide having responsibility as a Senior Building Officer and Executive Officer of the Building Fire Safety Committee.
