Chinese Horse Calligraphy Workshop 潑墨揮毫迎奔馬 | English/Cantonese

Join us with Chinese calligraphy and painting teacher, Franz Cheung, to celebrate the Year of the Horse | 笔歌墨舞迎馬年

To celebrate Lunar New Year 2026 – the Year of the Horse, City of Ryde Libraries is hosting a special Calligraphy Workshop at Eastwood Library.

Learn the unique art of Chinese Calligraphy with Franz Cheung, a Chinese calligraphy and painting teacher and former vice president of the Australian Oriental Calligraphy Society.

During the workshop you will learn how to:

· Practice basic strokes of seal script in Chinese calligraphy

· Construct whole characters according to stroke order rules.

· Paint horse cartoons from samples provided

· Create a half writing half picture symbol to welcome the Year of the Horse

All materials and supplies provided including paper, brush and ink.

Adults and children aged 5 and above are welcome to join us. Children under 6 must be companied by an adult.
