Overview

Get creative and bring stories to life in this hands-on collage workshop for children, inspired by the Cut & Paste exhibition.

Using a playful mix of papers, textures and found materials, young artists will cut, paste and build their own imaginative characters and story scenes—just like those in the exhibition. This workshop celebrates storytelling, creativity and the joy of making, encouraging children to explore how ideas can leap off the page and into the world.

Perfect for curious minds and budding makers, this workshop offers a fun introduction to art-making and invites children to see the extraordinary potential in everyday materials.

All materials provided, for ages 8 - 10 years.

$8 + booking fee.

A parent or guardian must remain on site.

About the facilitators

Gemma Kirschner is a mixed media illustrator and potter living in Newcastle. She explores ideas of ‘home’ and ‘belonging’ through her work, often finding inspiration in the patchwork of scenes and characters found in her town and local community garden. She creates textural pieces through use of collage, working with collected paper and watercolour.

Lee Seaman is a Newcastle (Awabakal)–based artist whose practice explores sustainability through the creation of handmade papier-mâché from recycled materials. With a background in graphic design spanning a decade, Lee now teaches art to children, fostering creativity and environmental awareness while reimagining the aesthetic potential of discarded objects.
