Child Support Symposium
Child Support affects women from all backgrounds nation-wide. Child Support can assist economic
wellbeing and increase housing security, or it can create financial distress and be an avenue that enables
domestic violence. The scheme touches close to a quarter of Australian children (under 18 years).
The Symposium will cover these topics with contemporary research.
The Hague Convention of 2007 gives expression to child-support, but it is yet to be ratified by
Australia. Attendees will hear from Maja Groff, the senior legal officer with The Hague conference on
Private International Law.
