Overview

Join us for a game of chess in a relaxed and friendly environment.

If you love playing chess, come along to meet like-minded individuals and improve your skills. Adults of all skill levels are welcome. However, you must be familiar with the basic moves of each chess piece. Chess boards are provided at each session.

Club dates: This Club meets weekly on Thursdays from 1.00-3.00pm from 8 January until 17 December 2026, except on public holidays.

Please note: You only need to register once to be able to attend the weekly activity in 2025. If participants miss 3 or more consecutive weeks without notifying staff, then they may forfeit their booking.

  • Bookings are essential and spaces are limited.
  • You need to have basic skills and knowledge of how to play chess.
  • You only need to register once to be able to attend the program in 2025.
  • You must be a Library member to attend. Library membership is free and you can sign up at any branch or online today.
  • If you are unable to attend the club any longer, please cancel your ticket as soon as possible. This will enable others to participate.
  • If participants miss 3 or more consecutive weeks without notifying staff, then they may forfeit their booking.
  • Please arrive 10 minutes early to allow the event to run on time.
  • Due to the safety and enjoyment of participants, we are unable to admit latecomers to the room after the start time.
  • Patrons who fail to comply with the Terms and Conditions set out above will have their tickets cancelled.
