Description

CHARM is the premier conference for the communication and translation of health related research practice in the ACT. The conference explores challenges, opportunities and discoveries in health and medical research in the region and provides opportunity for showcasing research, networking, collaboration and capacity building for researchers and clinicians in the ACT and beyond.

CHARM is an annual meeting, held in collaboration with ACT Health, Heart Foundation ACT, University of Canberra, University of New South Wales Canberra, and the Australian Catholic University, the Australian Institute of Sport and The Australian National University.

Overview of 2018 CHARM Program

Day 1: Heart Foundation Research Day

A new addition to the CHARM program focused on the latest in cardiovascular health research and the translation of research into practice. This day is targeted at researchers, clinicians, health professionals and policy makers.

Day 2: Chronic Conditions – the future is now

Invited speakers from across Australia will present research in personalised medicine, clinical trials, biomedical instrumentation and evidence based healthcare strategies for our ageing population. A panel discussion, which will discuss the impact of research on chronic disease management, will be followed by a poster viewing session.

Day 3: ACT Research in Focus

Starting with the 3 Minute Thesis competition, day three will showcase key health research projects from across the region, featuring local abstract presentations from the region’s principal researchers in bench, clinical, allied health and nursing research. A keynote presentation delivered by one of the country’s leading researchers in Mental Health will build on the exciting CHARM 2018 program.

Posters will be on display throughout the week, with the poster viewing event on the evening of day two.

The meeting will be officially closed at the Awards Dinner on day three.
