Event description

Description

My name is Chantelle and I am an entrant in the 2018 Astute Financial Ambassador Program run as part of the Atherton Maize Festival. I have been sponsored by Tablelands Regional Council and was driven to enter the program because it is an excellent opportunity to connect with my community and affords the perfect platform to raise funds for a not-for-profit very close to my heart; FNQ Foster Farm.

My love of horses was developed from a very early age and I spent many happy years as a young girl travelling around the beautiful Tablelands to a different Horse Sports or Pony Club competition each weekend.

My passion for both horses and the Tablelands has continued on into adulthood. I guide visitors in our region to the best attractions through my position as a Tourism Trainee at the Atherton Visitor Information Centre. In my spare time I hang out with my equine friends, rescue horse Sinbad the Sailor and his best friend Midnight.

I began volunteering at FNQ Foster Farm at the beginning of 2018. There I learned how to better communicate with Sinbad, who has since come along in leaps and bounds and adores the clicker training we are both learning.

FNQ Foster Farm offers a safe haven for all horses and livestock when their families can’t and specialises in rehabilitation, retraining and re-homing. They also provide a community service offering temporary support to livestock and horse owners enabling them to maintain the needs of their stock through financial setbacks.

As a charitable organisation, FNQ Foster Farm requires support to achieve their goal to promote animal welfare. They are aiming to have an arena built so they have an area to assess and train the horses. With this in mind I am undertaking fundraising efforts including market stalls, a raffle, a pie drive and hundred dollar board and a Cowboys and Indian themed Trivia Night.
