Chandris: An Immigration Story @ Wanneroo Library
Celebrating the Australian Heritage Festival.
Embark on a visual voyage through the history of the Chandris Line during the golden age of the ocean liner with Chris Frame as your guide. Discover how Chandris, with vessels like the Patris and Australis, thrived by transporting thousands of migrants to a new life Down Under through the Australian assisted passage scheme. We will witness the shift from traditional liner services to the burgeoning cruise industry as the company adapted to changing travel demands.
The talk then explores the establishment of Celebrity Cruises as a premium Chandris brand, its innovative early years, and its eventual acquisition by Royal Caribbean International.
Concluding with a look at today's fleet, this photographic journey reveals how Celebrity evolved into a leader in the contemporary cruise world, known for its elegant design and refined onboard experience.
