Challenging Practice #DHS2024 is a 3-day Drug Hypersensitivity Symposium hosted by the Centre for Antibiotic Allergy and Research (Austin Health) and The Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity (The University of Melbourne) as a hybrid event (in-person event with a virtual option).

The symposium features leaders in drug allergy across multiple disciplines (dermatology, allergy, immunology, infectious diseases, pharmacy and perioperative medicine) from Australia and abroad. The program this year will include 8 international speakers from USA, Canada, UK, South Africa, Singapore and Hong Kong.

Each day of the program will focus on a key area of allergy research:

Day 1 - Severe Cutaneous Adverse Reactions (including oral abstracts)

Day 2 - Antibiotic Allergy in Practice

Day 3 - Drug Anaphylaxis & Non-Antibiotic Drug Allergy (+ optional parallel session on practical antibiotic allergy implementation and skills for 50 attendees)

The small conference format will allow for interaction with leading experts in the field, networking and practical case discussion. There is extra time this year for questions and interaction with our international guests. There are limited spaces available so please register early as previous years have reached capacity.

Date: 25th - 27th of October 2024

Location: Doherty Institute - 792 Elizabeth Street Melbourne, Victoria, Australia (Virtual registration also available)

Included for in-person attendees is morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea on each day. A networking drinks and canapes session is also included at the end of Day 2.
