Coffs Harbour Regional Conservatorium

Experience the warmth and resonance of a cello ensemble first hand over 3 days of group cello classes.

In its second year of running, Cellissimo is a celebration of one of the world’s most loved instruments. Whether you are a newly fledged beginner or an experienced player, Cellissimo is designed to nurture players of all levels and ages with beginner and advanced classes. Coffs Harbour Regional Conservatorium cello teacher Georgie Ostenfeld will be joined by two outstanding Australian cellists, Monique Clare and Caleb Murray, to educate and inspire participants across the weekend, culminating in a final concert on Sunday.

Monique is one of Australia’s most innovative and exciting young artists who has centred her artistic career around singer-song writing for voice and cello. With only her voice, four strings and a cello bow, Monique Clare carves out a musical landscape to get lost in. She has been described by BMA Magazine as “Bold, clever and vivid… Icicle sharp vocals… reminiscent of the incredible voice of Kate Miller-Heidke”. Monique will be performing a solo concert at the Conservatorium as part of the launch for her newly released single “Better Now”.

Caleb grew up in the rolling countryside of North East Victoria, and decided to pick up the cello as a five year old after hearing it in his favorite Powderfinger song. He studied at the Australian National Academy of Music and his passion for the instrument has taken him across Australia, New Zealand, Europe and China as an orchestral and chamber musician. He currently plays in Sydney with the Opera Australia Orchestra.
