Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your session so we can sign your waiver form and get you ready for the session on time!

Warm Up


During your 45 minutes you will start with equipment introduction, fitting of safety equipment and ice breaker to get to know your team mates.

Session


You session lasts in total for 45 minutes, including the warm-up, so you will have approximately 35-40 minutes of introductory sword skills.

Post event photos


At the end of your session, while the waiver forms are being signed for the next group, you can stay on for 15 minutes and take your perfect sword photo!

ABOUT YOUR SWORD SKILLS MEET AND GREET

Join us in Melbourne for one of the official Meet and Greet Events ... the much anticipated Swords Skills. What better a way if you are planning on attending solo to come and meet some of your fellow guests prior. Or of course bring your besite or your lucky male chaperone along for the fun. This is exactly what you have all been asking for ... read on!

SWORDSKILLS TICKETS

A very private group of only 42 attendees will be welcomed to a very private swordskills workshop. The event will take place at the Official Hotel - The Westin in Melbourne, in the "Westin Room 1"

We have small groups of 6 attendees and two coaches. We need a small number as you will be using real "prop" swords, and we need a lot of space around you.

We have Melbourne based Mosh Hewson, a current World Champion swordfighter and renowned Historical Fencing coach, who will be taking you through some of the magic of swordplay, allowing your body to flow strongly and experiencing all the power and grace of sword fighting.

The session will begin with learning first how to hold the sword and be safe with it, then learning some of the mechanics to overpower any strike, and how delicate and dance like you can be while using a Longsword.

There will also be a set photo opportunity to capture yourself with your sword and most importantly you get to make some great personal connections for any solo voyagers coming along alone. If you want to come with a partner or a friend that is fine too! The spirit of the day is to make sure you say hi to the other members (only 6 of you!) so you know at least a few extra faces to say hello to at the ball.

This is NON-CONTACT, there will be no bruises, and you will be standing so far apart from each other no sword will ever come into contact with a body.

MEET YOUR SWORDSMAN

Mosh (he/him), is the Head Coach and Master of Arms at the Fitzroy College of Arms. He primarily teaches Dueling weapons of the aristocracy and helps guide people into becoming the sword fighters of their dreams.

With over half his life devoted to Martial Arts and Swords, he has been blessed enough to teach seminars throughout Australia and internationally, with international acclaim for his knowledge and ability to enact what he teaches in competition and competitive environments, even with an active World title to show for it.

A real life wandering swordmaster, who wants nothing more than for the world to experience the magic of historical fencing.

Frequently asked questions

I am coming alone is that ok and I don't know how to use a sword and I'm shy?

This event is for you!! Specifically!

I have a disability or I am not sure I am fit enough to attend.

Please email us at hello@celestialevents.com.au so we can check with our head Swordsman to make sure we can cater for you. Always check with your doctor first.

What are the age requirements?

You must be 18 years to attend.

Do I need to show ID on arrival?

Yes your ticket needs to be the name on your ID and you must be over 18 years old to attend.

Where is the official hotel?

The Westin Collins Street.

Do I need to stay at the hotel?

No - this is just super handy as it is right near all the events and a great spot to catch up with new friends.

Is there wheelchair access at The Westin

Yes!

What is the dress code?

Comfortable to be able to move about freely - closed in shoes.

Do I have to dress as a character is this cosplay?

You absolutely can dress up and cosplay, but you do not have to! Just make sure you feel amazing, so wear something that makes you feel great!

What is the weapon policy?

No home weapons will be permitted ... so you will need to leave these ones behind please on this occasion.

Can I get a refund?

This is a no-refund event but you can re-sell via TIXEL.

What should I bring?

A bottle of water to stay hydrated! And a towel.

What if I miss out?

There is a waitlist and there are ALWAYS people who can't make it for some reason, so please keep checking TIXEL for official re-sale tickets.

Is this an official publisher affiliated event?

This event draws inspiration from lots of fav fantasy books but is in no way affiliated with any one publisher. This is entirely fantasy fan-based fun.

What is the minimum attendee policy

Each group needs a minimum of 3 participants to go ahead so we may be required to shuffle groups if we do not reach minimums. We will inform you if this is the case.
