Description

'A picture is a poem without words' - Horace

Join us in celebrating World Poetry Day at your Regional Museum with a short conversation and an entertaining session of sea themed poems on an Open Mic.

The Rime of the Ancient Mariner is the longest major poem by the English poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge, written in 1797–98 and published in 1798 in the first edition of Lyrical Ballads. It relates the experiences of a sailor who has returned from a long sea voyage.

Come and see the enchanting local exhibition Rime of the Ancient Mariner featuring paintings by well known local artist, rugby coach, and literature lover, Geoff Mould.

Celebrated poet John Bennett will be in conversation with Geoff about his life in sport and art, his exhibition, and reflections on the Rime of the Ancient Mariner.

Then you are invited to a sea themed open mic poetry session.

Sign up on the evening to perform an original or much regarded poem - under 4 minutes please, bards.

Light refreshments will be served.

This is a free all ages event but bookings are requested.

The exhibition runs 6 February to 31 March 2018.

Coffs Harbour Regional Museum is open from Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 4pm
