Bring the family and join us for a special community planting event at Greaves Reserve.

This year’s World Environment Day (5 June) campaign focuses on land restoration and drought resilience under the theme of 'Our land. Our future. We are #GenerationRestoration.'

This year marks the 80th anniversary of the first community planting day in Greater Dandenong history. In July 1944, 1200 people planted 2200 trees in the area now known as Greaves Reserve as part of the 'Save The Forests' campaign. Trees were supplied by the Forests Commission including 2000 conifers and pines and around 200 eucalypts, many of which still stand today.

There will be plenty to do on the day with a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony by Traditional Custodians from the Bunurong Land Council Aboriginal Corporation, planting activities, a free barbecue lunch and more.

Remember to wear warm clothes and footwear suitable for uneven and muddy ground that you won't mind getting dirty. Bring a reusable drink bottle and a pair of gloves.

Entry via Bennet Street, parking available near Gloria Pike Netball Centre.
