CCF NATIONAL INFRASTRUCTURE BREAKFAST
Thu. 16 February 2017, 7:00 am – 10:00 am AEDT
This is the first Australian Infrastructure Outlook Report published by Civil Contractors Federation National in conjunction with BIS Shrapnel research, forecasting and analysis. As in 2016, it comes at a pivotal time for the civil construction industry, as the Australian economy transitions from the mining boom to more balanced and sustainable growth, and State and Federal Governments grapple with debts and deficits in framing their budgets and infrastructure spending plans.
The Report details key findings, challenges, and most importantly makes key recommendations for governments and industry to work together on solutions that will sustain industries, provide jobs and maintain living standards in the face of the one of the greatest and prolonged investment busts that Australia has ever seen.
Contractors and suppliers to the civil construction industry have already felt the impact of falling construction work on their businesses and the near term outlook remains challenging, to say the least. While falling resources-related investment has been a key architect of the construction downturn, falling state government revenues and rising debt has also stymied publicly funded civil construction.
