Overview

Join a special kids’ session exploring the writing process with local author Sally Murphy.

As part of the Bunbury Public Libraries’ Literacy Festival, join an engaging session full of imagination, creativity and (possibly) a touch of feline royalty for children aged 8-12 years.

Date: Friday 17 April

Time: 9.30am - 10.30am

Location: Bunbury Public Library – Parkfield Street, Bunbury

Can we really know what cats or other pets think? And, if they could talk, what would they tell us?

As we try to answer these questions, we will also explore the process behind the writing of Sally Murphy's book Queen Narelle, inspiring children to create their own animal-led adventures.

Presenter:

Sally Murphy is an award‑winning author, poet and educator with a passion for inspiring young writers.

About the festival:

The City of Bunbury Public Libraries presents the inaugural Literacy Festival, a vibrant, community-focused celebration of reading, writing and storytelling. Across 12 days and 21 events, the festival will bring stories to life through interactive storytelling, inspiring author talks, creative writing workshops, drawing sessions, family-friendly activities and literacy-focused programs for all ages.

The festival promotes essential lifelong literacy skills while showcasing local authors and illustrators. Free or low-cost and open to all, the festival reinforces that literacy is for everyone.
