Catapult: Uncoiling the Veils of Illusion

Catapult: Uncoiling the Veils of Illusion

Overview

Dance performance choreographed by Kristina Chan in the immersive projection cube at MAP mima

Kristina Chan presents a powerful new dance work created specifically for the 360-degree projection cube at MAP mima. Drawing on the full capabilities of the immersive projection system, the performance surrounds the audience with shifting environments, textures, and atmospheres that respond to and amplify the dancers’ movements.

Chan’s choreography, known for its emotional clarity, sculptural precision, and deep physicality, unfolds within a constantly transforming visual world. The dancers move through landscapes of light, colour, and motion, creating a sense of being fully enveloped in the performance. Rather than watching from a distance, audiences are immersed in a spatial experience where choreography and projection merge into a single, flowing composition.

This work offers an intimate and atmospheric encounter with contemporary dance, harnessing MAP mima’s unique technology to expand the boundaries of performance and perception.
