Description
This practical half day workshop will explore the
- Purpose of keeping records and how this influences the content of case notes
- Factors to consider when determining the style of case notes to use
- Legal and ethical considerations including what is reportable and or in-admissible in a court of law
- Implications for records managmeent of security and electronic records
- Different styles of case notes and features of narative vs observational and template styles
- Do's and don'ts of language and content when writing case notes
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Define the appropriate use of language
- Determine what to inlcude and exclude from case notes
- Document disclosures and physical observations to ensure case notes meet the requirements for reporting
- Write case notes that are admissible in a court of law
- Identify the various styles used when writing case notes
