Carer Support Group: Walk and Talk (Townsville)

Carer Support Group: Walk and Talk (Townsville)

Overview

Join us for a combination of gentle walking with conversation, fresh air, and connection with others who understand the caring role.

Caring for someone can be rewarding, but it can also be exhausting and isolating. You don’t have to do it alone.

Walk and Talk is a relaxed, in-person peer support group for carers. We combine gentle walking with conversation, fresh air, and connection with others who understand the caring role. This group is a chance to:

  • Get moving at an easy, comfortable pace
  • Take time out for yourself in a calm outdoor setting
  • Connect with other people who “get it”
  • Share experiences, tips, or simply enjoy quiet company
  • Support your wellbeing in a pressure-free environment

There’s no expectation to talk if you don’t want to — you can walk, listen, and just be present. The focus is on connection, self-care, and peer support in a safe, welcoming space. Come as you are. Walk at your own pace. Stay for the whole time or just part of it.

Sessions will be held fortnightly from 9am - 11am on Mondays starting 12th January, 2026. Meeting point will be at Riverside Ampitheater (near the library). We recommend bringing sun protection, water and comfortable shoes.

If you are having trouble registering for our event, please contact us on 1800 422 737.

Please note: This event is open to carers registered with Carer Gateway (we can assist with new registrations for eligible participants).
