Carer Support Group (Townsville)
Join us for a chat, a cuppa, and some much-needed support at our Carer Support Group.
Caring for someone can place ongoing demands on your time, energy, and wellbeing. Meeting face-to-face allows carers to connect regularly with the same group of people, helping build trust, shared understanding, and meaningful peer connections over time.
Across the 8 weeks, sessions will focus on:
- Managing stress and emotional overload
- Effective communication – expressing needs, setting boundaries, and being heard
- Recharge and reconnect – practical ways to restore energy and resilience
- Sleep and rest – improving sleep habits and managing fatigue
- Strengthening social connections and reducing isolation
Each session includes guided discussion, gentle reflection, practical strategies, and opportunities to share experiences with other carers. Participation is flexible — you can listen, share, or simply take what you need from each session. You don’t need to have all the answers. This is a space to pause, connect, learn, and feel supported.
Sessions will be held weekly from 10am - 12pm on Tuesdays starting from March 10th, 2026. Carers are encouraged to attend all sessions to get the most out of the experience. Light refreshments will be available - please provide details of any food allegies or other special dietary requirements with your RSVP.
If you are having trouble registering for our event, please contact us on 1800 422 737.
Please note: This event is open to carers registered with Carer Gateway (we can assist with new registrations for eligible participants).
