Caravan Safety Workshop
MidCoast Council are hosting a caravan safety workshop to help improve safety and aid decision making when towing.
Safe Caravan Towing Workshop
Own your own caravan but have questions about weight? Thinking about buying your dream van but don’t have much towing experience? Or already towing and unsure about loading safely?
Hunter Councils, with the support of Transport for NSW, are hosting a series of safe caravan towing workshops across Cessnock, Maitland, Port Stephens and the MidCoast Council area. The workshops will be delivered by expert presenters from Get About Training – Tow-Ed.
These free, interactive three-hour workshops provide practical information and live demonstrations to support the safe loading and towing of caravans and trailers.
MidCoast Council Road Safety Officer Chris Dimarco said the Tow-Ed presenters will answer common questions such as:
· What is GCM?
· Is my vehicle’s towing capacity suitable for my caravan?
· What are the rules for carrying bicycles on the back of a van?
· How do I know if my caravan is loaded safely?
It is important to know how to correctly load and weigh your caravan and drive safely while towing. Overloaded or overweight caravans can also affect insurance cover, making this workshop a valuable opportunity to check you are set up safely before your next adventure.
The workshops are free of charge, however places are limited and registration is essential.
You can reserve your place by registering online.
